Best gorilla trekking time Uganda: Bwindi impenetrable forest national park and Mgahinga Gorilla national park are located in Southwestern Uganda. It should be noted that over 400 mountain gorillas, half of the world’s remaining population of mountain gorillas. A trip to the Pearl of Africa is worth it when you include visiting a family of mountain gorillas in any of the four sectors that is Buhoma, Nkuringo, Ruhija and Rushaga or in Mgahinga Gorilla national park in the Nyakagezi gorilla family.

The climate of Kigezi highlands is deemed favorable all year round thus making it flexible for tourist arrivals at any time. It should be noted that both Bwindi national park and Mgahinga national parks are open to all tourists be it Foreign Non-Residents (FNR), Foreign Residents (FR) and East African Citizens (EAC) all year round. The Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) advises tourists from across the globe who are always willing to travel into the Pearl of Africa to see the mountain gorillas to travel from June till September and also between December to March. This is because during this period of the year in Uganda it is peak season when a lot of tourists are visiting and also being a dry season, the forest trails are passable, and less tampered with hence making the tracking very flexible.

Tourists who would not like to travel during peak season are also rewarded with great opportunities of visiting Bwindi and Mgahinga national parks in the rainy months such that they can be able to combine gorilla trekking with birding since during this time of the year the forest is so green with a beautiful scenery and a lot of bird species can be spotted. In most cases, there are tourists who are not comfortable doing gorilla trekking during peak season as tourists be many and sometimes noisy so during low season is also a great opportunity for one to trek peacefully.

Bwindi impenetrable forest national park and Mgahinga gorilla national park can be accessed by both road and air transport depending on the organization of the tour with your reliable tour operator and a reputable company licensed by the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) to carry out tours in and outside the country.
