Welcome to our Wildlife Conservation page, where we highlight the incredible efforts being made to preserve and protect Uganda’s rich biodiversity. Uganda is renowned for its diverse wildlife, including iconic species like mountain gorillas, chimpanzees, elephants, and a wide array of birdlife. Through dedicated conservation initiatives, Uganda is committed to safeguarding these precious natural treasures for future generations.

Wildlife Conservation

Protecting Endangered Species

Uganda is home to the critically endangered mountain gorillas, with more than half of the world’s population residing in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. We actively support conservation efforts to protect these magnificent creatures from poaching, habitat loss, and other threats.

Preserving Habitats

Uganda boasts a diverse range of ecosystems, including rainforests, savannahs, wetlands, and lakes. We collaborate with local authorities and organizations to safeguard these habitats through initiatives such as reforestation, habitat restoration, and anti-deforestation campaigns.

Community Engagement

We recognize the importance of engaging and empowering local communities in wildlife conservation. By promoting sustainable livelihoods, education, and community-based conservation projects, we strive to create a positive impact on both people and wildlife.

Wildlife Research and Monitoring

Through partnerships with research institutions and wildlife experts, we contribute to ongoing studies and monitoring programs to better understand Uganda’s wildlife populations, their behaviors, and the impact of conservation efforts.
