2 Days Batwa Cultural Internship: “Roots & Rituals”

Begin your journey with a cultural sensitivity briefing designed to promote ethical engagement and respect for the Batwa way of life. You’ll then set off on a guided forest walk with Batwa elders, where you’ll learn to identify medicinal herbs, edible plants, and ancient tracking methods. The walk is interactive and hands-on, offering participants a deep appreciation of forest-based living in Uganda. Midday includes a Batwa-prepared lunch or forest-foraged snack, reflecting traditional cuisine made from seasonal ingredients. The afternoon brings a demonstration of traditional skills such as fire-starting, tool-making, or water collection. Later, enjoy a vibrant Batwa music and dance session—a joyful, expressive window into the tribe’s oral storytelling and celebration culture. In the evening, sit in a fireside circle for personal stories shared by Batwa elders, followed by time for journaling and quiet reflection under the stars.
