Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Akagera national park

Upon arrival, the safari guide will pick you up and brief you about the safari. After, you will embark on the journey to Akagera National Park. On arrival, you will check into the lodge for lunch and relaxation.

In the evening, you will have an afternoon game drive, where you will spot species like hyenas, zebras, waterbucks, duikers, and elephants, among others. The game drive takes 1-2 hours, and after, you will return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Morning game drive and evening boat cruise

In the morning, you will head into the national park for an early morning game drive. While on the game drive, you will search for the big five, such as elephants, lions resting in the grasslands, buffalo herds and the rare black rhino.

You will also spot antelopes, warthogs, hippos, and a number of bird species, making it a full wildlife safari experience.

In the afternoon, you will enjoy a boat cruise safari on Lake Ihema. While on a boat cruise safari, you will encounter crocodiles, hippos and bird species like marabou storks, herons, African fish eagle and many more. After the boat cruise, you will return to the lodge for relaxation and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Departure

After breakfast, check out of the lodge and head back to Kigali. On arrival, you will have a city tour, where you will visit places such as the Kigali Genocide Memorial, Kandt House, craft centers, and Kimironko Market. After the visit, you will be dropped off at Kigali International Airport for your flight back home or dropped at any place of convenience.
