Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to volcanoes national park

Depending on arrival, you will be welcomed by our driver guide, who will brief you about the gorilla safari. After the briefing, you will head to Kigali for a city tour where you will visit the Kigali Genocide Museum, Kimironko Market, art centers, among others.

After the city tour, you will embark on the journey to Volcanoes National Park. On arrival, you will check in to your hotel for relaxation and prepare for the next day’s activities.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking

After an early morning breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters for a briefing. After the briefing, you will be grouped in groups of 8 people and be allocated a gorilla family to trek. Accompanied by the experienced guide, you will enter into the forest in search of the endangered mountain gorillas.

Once the gorilla family is located, you will spend an hour with these species as you watch them feed, breastfeed, and nurture the young ones, among others. After, you will take pictures and record memories. After, you will return to the park headquarters, where you will be awarded a certificate of appreciation for participating in the trekking safari. After, you will return to your lodge for relaxation and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Visit at the iby’iwacu village and departure

In the morning after breakfast, head to the Iby’iwacu cultural village, where you will participate in the cultural experience. While at Iby’iwacu, you will enjoy traditional performances, storytelling and demonstrations of ancient Rwandan practices such as drumming, millet grinding and local food cooking.

After the visit, you will embark on the journey back to Kigali. You will be dropped off at the airport for your flight home or at a convenient location.
